THE CE MARKING

OBJECTIVE

To offer maximum transparency regarding the performance of the frame in order to protect the user and the manufacturer, and ensure that they are fully aware of what is manufactured, sold and purchased.

WHAT IS IT?

The CE marking is a mark affixed by the manufacturer confirming the compliance of the product with the basic safety requirements provided for by the relevant EU Directive.

STARTING DATE

From 1 February 2010 the CE marking is mandatory for all the frames that are produced and marketed in the Single Market of the European Union.

TEST

The compulsory performance tests are carried out on sample frames at a Notified Laboratory, where the performance features of the product are attested (ITT tests).

ASSESSMENT

A Production Control Plan (PCP) is implemented to ensure that the characteristics of the frame produced comply with those of the sample tested in the Notified Laboratory.

PRODUCT CERTIFICATIONS

THERMAL INSULATION – Up to 1.0 W/m2K
In compliance with UNI EN ISO 10077-1 regulation

The lower the Uw thermal transmittance coefficient, the better the performance of the frame. The Uw value varies according to the material and type of glass used.

SOUND INSULATION – Up to 48 db
In compliance with UNI EN ISO 140/3 and UNI EN 717-1 regulations

Measures the sound-insulating power of a frame, that is, its capacity to absorb noise coming from outside. The higher the Rw value, the higher the sound insulation.

AIR PERMEABILITY – Up to Class 4
In compliance with the UNI EN 12207 regulation

Measures the power of a closed frame to prevent air from entering. The higher the class, the better the impermeability.

WATERPROOFNESS – Up to Class 9 A
In compliance with the UNI EN 12208 regulation

Measures the power of a closed frame to prevent water from entering. The higher the class, the higher the waterproofness.

WIND RESISTANCE – Up to class B5
In compliance with the UNI EN 12210 regulation

Measures the mechanical resistance of a frame to sudden, violent gusts of wind. The higher the class, the higher the resistance of the hardware.

OTHER CERTIFICATIONS

FIRE RESISTANCE – Class 1
In compliance with the UNI EN 8457-9174 regulation

Measures the fire-resistance and self-extinguishing capacity of a profile.
